At Hawker School we enjoy high levels of parent involvement and support. Parents are encouraged to participate in their child's education and are always welcome in the school.
The P&C is very active in both fundraising and participation in decision making. The P&C run an Autumn Fair which is a great fundraiser as well as a wonderful community event.
The school also runs an active volunteer program. Parent and community volunteers contribute to the school in many ways, particularly in the junior home reading program. In addition to these formal avenues for participation, parents are invited to attend functions and special occasions at the school, or just to drop in and be part of our program.
P&C Music Tutor Scheme Chess and Drama Program
A sub-committee of the P&C runs the Music Tutor Scheme and Drama Program.
The Music Tutor Scheme operates to enrich the music program at Hawker School by providing individual tuition during school hours in Piano from Year 1, Violin from Year 2 and Guitar from Year 2. It also offers group Guitar lessons from Year 2.
The Drama Program is run before and after school on Thursdays and is available from Year 1- 6 and operates to give students the opportunity to improve their performance skills.
The Choir (Hawker Harmonists) is a non-auditioned choir for students from Year 3-6 held on Tuesday mornings from 8am.
All students enrolled at Hawker School may take advantage of this scheme. Lessons are held at the school and parents are invoiced directly by the tutors. The P & C charges an annual administration fee of $30 for every student in the scheme which is payable through Flexischools.
